The M.A. programme in International Development Studies, Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University is now looking for an academic to fulfil the position of Programme Coordinator.

Programme Coordinator

Location:  Master of Arts in International Development Studies (MAIDS), Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand

Duration: One year renewable contract

Closing Date: Thursday April 30th, 2009

Job description:

The Programme Coordinator will assist the MAIDS Programme Director in carrying out the academic responsibilities of the programme.

Academic responsibilities include the preparation of the academic timetables and annual calendars, curriculum development and oversight of course coordination.

The Programme Coordinator will also be responsible for initiating fundraising projects and contributing to the programme's public relations. Fundraising is a responsibility of particular importance, as the programme is new and actively seeking to improve its accessibility to students of the Greater Mekong Sub-region. We would also like to increase the number and quality of academic resources available to our students.

This position reports to the MAIDS Programme Director, and works in close collaboration with the MAIDS Programme Committee, comprised of members of the Faculty of Political Science.

Qualifications and Experience:

The candidate should hold a Master Degree in a field related to development studies (political science, international relations, public administration, rural development, urban and regional planning, etc) preferably from abroad.   In addition, the candidate should have a minimum of two years work experience in administration, international development, preferably in an academic or research institution.

The candidate must have the ability to develop activities and organize courses and workshops under minimal supervision.   The candidate must have strong managerial and organizational skills as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities.   The successful candidate should also have a proven track record in fundraising and writing grant proposals.

The candidate must be a Thai national and have excellent writing, communication and computing skills in English.   He/She must also have the ability to work effectively with staff and students in a multicultural environment.   

Salary and Benefits: The base salary is 20,000 Baht per month.
